March 29, 2012
On Thursday, March 29 friends, neighbors and central Texas supporters will gather to help cover the framework of Army Specialist Michael Ryan and his wife Carey’s home with messages of hope, encouragement and inspiration. Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes will pause construction for a few hours to celebrate a milestone in the construction of the Ryan’s new, mortgage-free, custom-built home, providing markers for attendees to write notes as well as enjoy free BBQ dinner donated by Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with the Ryan’s, Operation FINALLY HOME and the entire community,” said Jimmy Jacobs, CEO and founder of Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes. “Notes of Love gives each of us the opportunity to personally show our support and appreciation for not only Michael, but every service man and women.”
Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran SPC Ryan was introduced to Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes through Operation FINALLY HOME, a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-partisan organization which helps provide homes to wounded and disabled veterans, and widows of the fallen. After serving in Operation Enduring Freedom VII in Afghanistan for two years, SPC Ryan trained as an Army Bio-Medical Equipment Specialist to treat wounded soldiers on his next tour of duty. Throughout his service, he saved countless lives through his care of wounded men and women, until he became a wounded soldier himself.
“SPC Michael Ryan is an exceptional young man,” said Ronald S. Keen, Colonel, United States Army. ”I was very proud to see him successfully accomplish the mission and most of all help those soldiers around him get through the experience with dignity and respect.”
In 2008, shortly after his arrival in Iraq, SPF Ryan suffered a traumatic brain injury. He currently suffers from short-term memory loss, anxiety, depression, light sensitivity, post-traumatic stress disorder, debilitating migraine headaches and intense chronic pain. However, with the critical support of his wife Carey, and service dog, Kingsley, SPC Ryan has achieved several recovery milestones and aims to attend the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
The Ryan Home will be the 9th home Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes has built for central Texan families in need and the 2nd with partner Operation FINALLY HOME. Support also comes from SPRIT105.9 FM, Austin’s Contemporary Christian Radio Station who has graciously donated media support during the construction. The 2443 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home will be the first Made In America Home by Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes.
The Made In America Home by Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes is one of the first programs in the country that offers a USA-made home to home buyers. From roofing nails to plumbing, products purchased and contractors hired will be completely sourced from the United States of America.
